Hey people. It has been days since I posted the last time. Yesterday I went to my grandmother's house. It was rather late when we left the house and there was no bus in sight. Thus, we decided to take the taxi. We flagged a taxi and we got on it. As you know, now the whole world are facing a financial crisis and lesser and lesser people want to take the taxi because of the tremendous increase in taxi fares. The taxi-drviers, also are facing a difficulty with the price of the oil going up. Thus, the taxi driver drove as slow as he could so that he could earn more money. At a traffic light, he saw a the green light turning amber and he jerked to a stop at once as though it was a red light. He could have cross, but he did not. We thought it was okay as he wanted to be safe, but it wasn't to be. He did that for all the traffic lights. Any idea how pissed off were we?? We wanted to get home as soon as possible and there was the taxi driver trying to drive as slow as he could. There were two ways to get to our home. One way was short and with little traffic light, and the other was long with a lot of traffic lights. This taxi driver took the long way without even asking us. By the time we got home, it was way past midnight. I was too tired to think about the taxi driver, but today, after I woke up, I pondered about it and I feel that taxi drivers nowaday was too much. They are facing a financial crisis, but aren't we also facing the same thing as they are? Besides, their job is too send us to our destination as soon as possible, this is a very basic thing that they should do, and not to earn as much as possible. I mean, earning money is important, but so is service, which is much more important. They need to earn a living, and we are also doing the same thing. We work hard for our money, and they should also be doing the same thing. My uncle is also a taxi driver, and he also work very hard, especially during the bad times. To earn money, they have to work hard, and not to drive as slow as they can to earn more money. They should work even harder, during this financial crisis.
