What happened in the class yesterday
Yesterday, I went back to my class after recess and I was shocked to find out that the floor surrounding my table was wet, my empty water bottle was on the floor, and everyone in the class was standing. I knew that the water from my water bottle had flowed out, but I didn't know who was the person. Looking at the wet floor, the first thing that came into my mind was to wipe up the water and thus, I went to the toilet and found out that Grady was there also, rinsing the rags. I took some tissues and went back to the class and started to wipe up the water on the floor. After I finished wiping, I went to the toilet to wash my hands and went back to the class. Only three person out of the 34 persons in the class wiped away the water. As it was LA period, Miss Soh was in the class and of course, she scolded the class for giving "eye power" and not helping to wipe away the water and instead, stood there and watch as three of the students in class helped the water and not giving help. She asked us whether there was any problem on the floor, what problem will it cause and why was it not a problem to most of the pupil in the class and gave us a homework, and that is to blog about it. Today I am going to blog about the questions that she asked us.
Why was it a problem??
It is a problem as the water was at the front of the class and people may fall when they walk into the class due to the fact that water reduces friction and if the person's shoe sole has worn off, then he will fall very easily. Plus, if the person's shoes are dirty, and he walks into the class, he will dirty the floor. If the whole class does the same thing, what will happen? I think all of you will know.
Why was it not a problem to most of the students in the class??
I think that the students may be thinking that it is none of their problem as it does not affect them and they did not bother to lend a helping hand. As the water was not spilt near their seats, they think that the persons whom the water was spilt closest to will do the job by helping to clean the floor. Besides, they see nobody cleaning the floor, and thus, they don't think that there is a need to help and be the odd one out.
What do I feel??
I feel that since this is a class, we have a part in keeping the class clean, and not to wait for others to make the first move, then after that, you follow what the person does. If the whole class helps to clean up the class, then the floor will be spick and span in no time. We do not have to wait for others to make the first move. We are leaders, we should have the initiative that a leaders possesses. We are a class, and we should have the teamwork that a class should have. This is a very good lesson for us as we learnt more about helping each other and not standing there and give "eye power".
What do you all think?? Please comment. Thanks!

Abraham Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln (1809-65) is the 16th President of the United States. He kept the union together and eliminated slavery. Lincoln was consistent and unswerving in his demand that freedom, choice, and self-government be understood. He also made extraordinary efforts to attain knowledge while working on a farm, splitting rails for fences, and keeping store at New Salem, Illinois. He was a captain in the Black Hawk War, spent eight years in the Illinois legislature, and rode the circuit of courts for many years. Even his law partner said that his ambition was an engine that knew no rest. Many Americans think of Abraham Lincoln, above all, as the president who freed the slaves. Immortalized as the "Great Emancipator," he is widely regarded as a champion of black freedom who supported social equality of the races, and who fought the American Civil War (1861-1865) to free the slaves as he regarded slavery as an evil and harmful institution.
In 1856, Lincoln became a member of the Republican Party and quickly became a political front-runner as a moderate who could woo both conservatives and abolitionists. However, Lincoln did not completely oppose slavery as he believed that it was an evil that should be contained and not allowed to grow. After gaining recognition as a possible vice presidential candidate in 1856, he was picked to oppose Stephen Douglas in the Illinois senatorial race. It was during this race that Lincoln and Douglas began a series of famous debates over the topic of slavery. While Lincoln lost the race, he became a pick for the Republican presidential bid in 1860 and won the presidency with a minority of the popular. Lincoln presided over the country during one of its most tumultuous periods. However, despite the ravaging of America's Civil War, Lincoln was able to maintain the continuity of the Union. The main goals during his presidency were restoration and preservation of the Union. Although he is often remembered as " The Great Emancipator", Lincoln, not wanting to alienate any American, at first tried to preserve the integrity of the Union by allowing for a gradual elimination to slavery. Yet, later he realized that in order for the Union to prevail slavery must end. Consequently, on September 22, 1862 Lincoln issued an attempted to free Confederate slaves. In addition to being both doubtful legally and feasibly, Lincoln's efforts only freed a minority of slaves and didn't come into full effect until after his death.
Literature Homework Question 5
The story, The Lottery, is a annual barbaric ritual which is taken place in a small American town with a population of about three hundred people on the 27th of June. This is a ritual whereby the locals display a strange and somber mood. After the head of each family draws a small piece of paper, one slip with a black spot indicates the paritcular family has been chosen. In this story, the Hutchinson family is chosen. Then each of the members of the family draws again to see which family member "wins," and Tessie Hutchinson was the “lucky” one. She is then stoned to death by everyone present, including her own family, as well as both the young boys and young girls as a sacrifice to ensure a good harvest.
Her friend, Mrs. Delacroix, warm and friendly in her natural state, selected such a large stone she had to pick it up with both hands to stone Mrs. Hutchinson. A big stone, when you throw it at someone, is very painful. This shows how the current society is. Your friends may seem friendly to you a moment or two, then after that, they will stab you in the back. This is how selfish human-beings are. They only care about themselves and don’t bother about what bad things that will happen to others. No matter what misfortunes befall you, they will not care about you. They will think that they are not in any trouble, and what has it to do with them. Even her children and her husband were involved in stoning her to death. She cared about her kins so much, but in the end, she had no one to depend on as she was brought into the middle of the crowd and being stoned to death. Her husband forced the paper slip out of Mrs. Hutchinson and held it up high to show that she was the chosen one. Everyone stoned her to death without having to think about how pain would the process would be and how hurt would the person being stoned to think that even her loved ones were stoning her to death. They did put themselves into the shoes of the other person and think about them. Initially, Mrs. Hutchinson assent to the idea of stoning, but after she was picked to be stoned, she screamed," it isn't fair! It isn't right!" Tessie's sudden change of heart upon having her own name chosen serves to highlight the hypocrisy of a society in which violence is accepted until it becomes the person himself or herself. If a group of gangsters wanted to kill someone, you will not be scared as it is none of your business if the person was killed because of the fact that you are not him, you will not be scared. This is human nature. Human nature are cruel, and it is not wrong of them to kill. However, after killing the person, the gangsters wanted to kill you, you will be afraid and you will have no choice but to give in and let them kill you. This also applies to Tessie Hutchinson. Thus, the author wrote this story to express that human nature is unfair. It is in human nature to kill and that is unfair.
Homework
Homework. This is a word that every students in Singapore would know. Why do students have homework? It is to know how well they can cope in that particular topic. Why do students have examinations? It is to know how well they do. When you are in primary 1, the homework load is very little, and slowly, as you grow older and older, your homework load increases. When you go into secondary 1 after you graduated from primary 6, you will be shocked by the amount of homework you will have, just like I do. The number of subjects increase, and so will your homework. Let's just say, if you are given two choices, 1: have a longer time in school, but you can finish your homework in school. 2: have a shorter time in school, but you will have to bring your back to do. I will definitely pick choice 1 as I am a person who doesn't have time management, and I will do my homework in the last minute. If you don't have homework when you reach home everyday, you can do other things like play, revise your homework, watch television etc. If you do your homework in school after your teacher taught you that topic, you will absorb more of what your teacher says in class. However, if you do your homework when you reach home, you will forget what your teachers say and you will have some difficulties doing your question. Thus, if there was no homework, wouldn't it be better. Besides, a lot of people have tuition and their tuition teacher will also give them tuition work. You will also have CCAs. By the time you reach home, it will be night time and if you have shcool work and your tuition work to do, by the time you finish your homework, that will be very late. If you finish your homework in school, then you will have time to do your tuition work. Thus, I think that it will be better to do our homework in school as the benefits is definitely more than the flaws. What do you all think?? Please comment. Thanks!
Taxi drivers nowaday
Hey people. It has been days since I posted the last time. Yesterday I went to my grandmother's house. It was rather late when we left the house and there was no bus in sight. Thus, we decided to take the taxi. We flagged a taxi and we got on it. As you know, now the whole world are facing a financial crisis and lesser and lesser people want to take the taxi because of the tremendous increase in taxi fares. The taxi-drviers, also are facing a difficulty with the price of the oil going up. Thus, the taxi driver drove as slow as he could so that he could earn more money. At a traffic light, he saw a the green light turning amber and he jerked to a stop at once as though it was a red light. He could have cross, but he did not. We thought it was okay as he wanted to be safe, but it wasn't to be. He did that for all the traffic lights. Any idea how pissed off were we?? We wanted to get home as soon as possible and there was the taxi driver trying to drive as slow as he could. There were two ways to get to our home. One way was short and with little traffic light, and the other was long with a lot of traffic lights. This taxi driver took the long way without even asking us. By the time we got home, it was way past midnight. I was too tired to think about the taxi driver, but today, after I woke up, I pondered about it and I feel that taxi drivers nowaday was too much. They are facing a financial crisis, but aren't we also facing the same thing as they are? Besides, their job is too send us to our destination as soon as possible, this is a very basic thing that they should do, and not to earn as much as possible. I mean, earning money is important, but so is service, which is much more important. They need to earn a living, and we are also doing the same thing. We work hard for our money, and they should also be doing the same thing. My uncle is also a taxi driver, and he also work very hard, especially during the bad times. To earn money, they have to work hard, and not to drive as slow as they can to earn more money. They should work even harder, during this financial crisis.
Man Utd vs Liverpool:1-4
Last Sunday I woke up with a shock to find out that Liverpool won over title rivals at the Theatre Of Dreams to breathe new life into the title race to win 4-1 over 10-man Man Utd as the champions of europe and england suffered their first home loss in the season.Liverpool went to Old Trafford in high spirits after trouncing Real Madrid 4-0 in the UEFA Champions League to proceed to the quarter-finals. Man Utd played against Inter Milan the following day, which means Liverpool had an extra recovery time. It was very remarkable for Liverpool as they got their second 4 goal haul of the week, and it was not against any other club. It was against two of the europe's best. Cristiano Ronaldo put the host in front from the penalty spot after goalkeeper Reina sent Park Ji-Sung falling. However, Liverpool got back into the game after a blunder from Vidic sent Torres one-on-one with goalkeep Van Der Sar. Torres made the best of his chance to score the equaliser past Van Der Sar. A minute before half-time, Gerrard scored from the penalty box after he was brought down by Patrice Evra. It was 2-1 to Liverpool as the half ended. In the 76th minute, Vidic fouled Gerrard outside the penalty box. Red card. Fabio Aurelio scored from the free-kick, leaving Van Der Sar rooted on the ground. Liverpool did not stop attacking and they were rewarded with a goal in the 90th minute after Pepe Reina's goal kick reached Andrea Dossena and he made no mistake in securing a 4-1 win over Man Utd as he lifted the ball over Van Der Sar to put the ball into the back of the net. All 3 points went deservingly to Liverpool as they outplayed, outsmarted and outmuscled over Man Utd. Probably, Liverpool having an extra day rest could be a factor, maybe United was complacent after the 2-0 win over Inter, but this does not matter now. United have to pick themselves up from where they fell and focus on the coming visit to Craven Cottage for a match against Fulham. United won 4-0 the last time they went there and it should not be a problem. Although United lost, all is not lost. They are still four points at the top of the table with a game in hand. Let's hope that Man Utd will not make anymore mistakes and try not to drop anymore points. If they can do that, in no time, they will be the champions of England. Perhaps they will end up winning an unpreceeded quituple. No one knows, but now the question is in whether United can have enough fire to last till the end of the season.
blah blah blah
Hey yo everyone. Today I was having dinner at a place called Shin Tokyo. It was opened recently and has a promotion selling white plates at $0.99 and as you know, singaporeans are famous for their kiasu-ism, there was a long queue in front of the place. Finally, after waiting for 15minutes, it was our turn. We went in and we got a seat that was far away from the conveyor belt and we had to order the sushi from the waiter. I thought that the food was going to come very quickly as we cannot take the sushi just as we liked, but we had to wait for 5 minutes before we could get our food. We were like starving already when the food came and we finished the food in mouthfuls. Before we knew that, the food was relished by us and we had to order somemore. Again, we waited for our food for like 5 minutes before they came again. When my mother asked a waitress for vinegar as there was none on the table, again we had to wait. It was only after my mother asked the waitress again before we got it. They should have put the vinegar, the soy sauce and everything that was needed on the table before we came to the table. This shows how "well" prepared the waiters were. Besides, the fact that they brought the vinegar lately to us is also another example of how "well" their service was. While taking down our orders, a waitress didn't know whether they still had that sushi and she actually said that she was too busy and forgot whether they still had that dish. Although I understand that they were busy, they should not forget what dish they still had. This is a basic thing that a waitress should be doing. If we need to wait so long before we can get our food, then what will happen if a person is rushing for a plane flight to England with the expensive food and drinks and he cannot be full?? He might as well go to a fast food restaurant and order something which is cheaper and he can be full. I feel that if the sushi shop cannot cope during the peak hours, especially during the weekends, they should employ more staffs so that they can give the orders to the customers as soon as possible so that they will not wait for such a long time. If you ask me, out of 10,what is my rating for the sushi shop, my answer will be 2. 1 for the ambience and the other, for comforting them.
sec 1 camp
Hi everyone. I am back from the camp. I survived the camp!! Yeah!! Ok, today I am going to talk about the camp. Ok, our group were very lucky to be able to sleep in the dormitry while the others were sleeping in the tents and the hut thingy which was no where comfortable than our dorm. Haha, how lucky were we huh?? All the I-sparkers slept in the dorm except 1/6 of the ortusians, which so happened to be us. Be jealous!! Haha, but it was damn dirty. I kept on scratching on the second night because of my sensitive skin. Oh yeah, and we shared the dorm with the i-sparkers. They were so noisy during the night and disturbed our sleep. They even did things that were too "good" to be told. Haha.
Ok, the talk of my lodging has came to an end. Now I am going to talk about the foods. Our first meal wasn't very good. The rice was not cooked well and the smell of the veggies put me off. I was surprised that some were able to finish the food. This is camp food, if you don't want to eat, then you will have to starve till dinner. However hard I wanted to put the food into my mouth, they just reject it. Cannot blame me :)
Now I am going to talk about the first day. After the lunch we had simple cooking lesson whereby we have to cook simple food. Then after that we went on to the wet activities. We had to slide down into a muddy pond which was called the milo pond, but the pond wasn't dirty. It was only smelly. But it was fun, just that I got my shirts, shorts and shoes dirty. After that we had team building activity. We had to climb up a low wall. Chris managed to climb up both the first and the second wall while I only managed to climb up the second wall. But I was happy to know that only me and him can climb up the wall. After that we had another team building activity then we went back to the dorm to bathe and went down for dinner. I didn't bathe at all during the whole camp.(Yucks!! Disgusting rite??) After dinner we had some cheers practice and that's all for day1.
The next day I woke up to know that Man Utd won Inter 2-0. Yeah!! Ronaldo and Vidic got onto the score sheet and Man Utd procceeded to the quarter-finals in their quest for a quintuple. Haha, guess how I got that news?? Yep, I got it from Yee Hark. Haha. His phone was able to connect to the internet. Ok, enough talk about that. I will go all day long if I keep on talking about it. Then after that we had another team building game called the TP shuffle. We are supposed to sit on a log in a very obscene manner. We are to sit in a random position and then we have to change into our index number without talking. After that we changed into our wet attire and we went for the rafting activity. I did not get wet as I did not go into the water because of the fact that there were too many people. After rafting we had some fun and fitness games. Firstly we played the game called ultimate frisbee. We won 3-0. How was that huh?? Haha. We thrashed the other team like crazy man. I scored one goal and assisted another. At the last minute of the game, the other team tried two last shots on goal and miraculously, I blocked both of them. Haha. Because of that, they voted me as the man of the match. After that we played a game called the tiger and the hunter. The hunters were supposed to pull the "tail" away from the tiger. Then all of them aimed at me and chris just because we are the two fastest runner in the class. I got caught by them but chris did not because of his agility. I am not saying that I am not agile, but you get the idea rite?? Yeah, ok. So after that we had our lunch and we went to have the sarimbun challenge. For the first challenge, we were supposed to throw balls into a basket which our friends were carrying and walking around. We have to throw in as many balls as possible in 10 minutes. I must say that our group has done well as we threw in 121 balls. You may think that it is easy, but it is not if you try it in real life. We are supposed to make a catapult in 15minutes at the second challenge. We were not working well with each other at first, but after that, we worked together and made a catapult. At the third challenge, we were supposed to go on a trek but we were unable to finish it due to the rain. Unable to complete the trek, we went to practice our cheer in a room and after that, we had dinner. After dinner, was the highlight of the day: campfire. One by one, the groups went up cheer. I think that our group cheered very badly as we forgot the cheer. However, we went on to complete the cheer. After the cheer, the camp trainers and the student leaders gave us a round of applause. This made us feel good. Slowly, the campfire died out and Mr. Tan Chee Wee gave a talk that ended the campfire. Although the campfire died out, the memories of this camp will always remain in my heart.
The last day, when we were going back home, it started to rain cats and dogs. We went back to the bus in our ponchos. In the rain, we bid farewell to the camp as we made our way home on the bus. I feel that this camp had made me bonded better with my classmates, and I learnt how to step out of my comfort zone. I also learnt how to reach out to my classmates. The money spent on this camp was well spent. The happy moments of this camp will forever be etched in my heart.

The taxi man's story
The taxidriver is not only a father but also a taxi driver. He was a bad taxi driver as he cheated overseas passengers of their money. They did not know the road well and he could go round and round and charge them by the meter. Besides, all the notes that they pull out are ten-dollars note and they would tell him to keep the change. I would also say that he is also a very experienced taxi-driver as he knows the road well and he could go either the short way or the long way. This shows that he has done his homework well by knowing well the road in Singapore. He was also a "honest" taxi-driver as he told the madam that he will drive her to her destination for her meeting by that way which has less traffic and less car jams. This was because the madam was a local and she know the road well and therefore, the taxi-driver will not take her by the long way to charge her more money. Actually, he wasn't a bad taxi-driver as he needs to do such things to earn a living. Besides, he also needed the money to send her daughter, Lay Choo to university. As a father, I feel that the taxi-driver was a very strict one. This shows how old-fashioned and traditional father as he believes that parents have to be strict. Only then will the children behave themselves. However, he does not know that by doing that, he will make the daughter thinks that she is not being loved. She does not know that her father loves her, but does not show it and he shows it by being strict to her. Childrens nowadys need love, and when they do not have it, they will go to other people for love. They will make caucasian boyfriends in order to have love. They make all kinds of excuses to go out with their boyfriends, such as they have tuition, they have cca, sports day etc. At first, she had good grades and the father pinned high hopes on her. When the father knew that she was fooling around instead of studying, he flew into a rage and he hit her so hard that she had to stay in bed for 3 days. She was the most doted on and the father had high hopes on her, but she lied to him and went against his wishes. The father was disappointed with her and thus the harsher punishment.Maybe she was materialistic, she had peer pressure and she was influenced from her friends, and thus she bacame like that. I feel that the people who were most disappointed with her are her parents. The mother carried her in her stomach to give birth to her into this world and there she was doing things that broke her heart. The taxi-driver worked so hard to provide for her to go into university and Lay Choo did not know that he did that for her own good. She thinks that he does not love her and did things that let him down. To a parent, the most disappointing thing is the children going against theirs wishes and breaking their heart time and again. I think that the children should understand their parents more so that they will make their parents happy. I think that Lay Choo should be working hard so that she will not disappoint her parents anymore. When a children changes for the better, their parents will be delighted. I think that that is the best joy that no one but a parent can have in their whole lives.

Adeline Ng Ai Choo commited suicide because she did not meet her parents' expectation to pass her examination. She was overwhelmed by the stress to live up to not her own expectation, but her parental expectation. She was grieved by her unability to pass and thus, she commited suicide. This is an act of cowardly, and no one will sympathize with her. By choosing death, Adeline is choosing the easy way out. She runs away from the problem, the reality. However she does not know that she is actually creating more problems by commmitting suicide. For example, she is grieving her parents who love her by doing such a foolish act and her actions will be a bad solution for those who fails thier examinations. I think that she was probably under stress to perform well in school and as a result of that, she went into a state of depression. She also didn't want to seek help and she was evasive when her teachers tried to council her as she thought that people will think that she was mad and bad if she was seen with a councilor. Thus, the evil temptation triumphed over her and therefore causing her to commit suicide. I feel your grades are lousy, you should be trying to think of ways to improve yourself and not to commit suicide and then escape from the problem. You should pick yourself up when you fall down and if you are facing any problems, you can approach your teachers for help. Besides, what is success without failure??
My results
Hey everybody. I know all my results liao. But they are very lousy. My msg is 4.5. Very lousy isn't it?? My Language Arts got a B4. Hai yo, and my mother didn't even scold me. How I wish that she could scold me, beat me or whatever to make me feel better lor. I will work hard so as not to disappoint my mother in the future. Tomorrow is my math test. Oh man, wonder what kind of grade will I get this time. I think I will score damn badly. Oh yeah, Man Utd won Totenham in the Carling Cup. Whoots!! Yeah!! Let's hope that Man Utd will go on to win the treble. Ok, back to my books, and wish me good luck for tomorrow. Byebye!!
